The temporarily-named Older Children's Group, for five to 11-year-olds, is holding a competition to find a new name and logo to represent it.
On Wednesday, about 20 youngsters got their creative thinking caps on. The event was held at Coppins Hall Community Centre, Maldon Way, Clacton.
There is still time for anyone who could not get to the event to take part in the competition.
Children can send their ideas to the Older Children's Group, care of Sure Start, Hemmington House, Broadway, Jaywick.
Entrants' names and addresses should be written on the back. The closing date is March 9
