Special constables will be patrolling the streets of Clacton town centre as part of a national weekend of awareness.
More than 20 special constables from Clacton, Harwich and Walton will be walking the beat from 7pm today until 3pm on Sunday, providing operational support to their full-time police colleagues while trying to attract new recruits to increase their numbers.
They will be joined by Chief Supt Dave Hudson, Sgt Bob Walsham and Insp Paul Butcher, of Clacton police.
The mobile police station will be on Christmas Tree Island, Pier Avenue, Clacton, where special constables will be giving information and advice about joining to members of the public.
