Only the people of Colchester can save the Queen Street bus station now.
Protest - bus park campaigners make their point before the meeting. (41249-1)
The only way it can be saved is if objectors to scrapping it make their feelings known, a Colchester councillor warned.
Martin Hunt (Lib Dem, Christ Church) said there are just eight weeks left to change the mind of the Tory cabinet.
He told last night's St Botolph's masterplan meeting: "If people send 50,000 to 60,000 letters of objection into the council within eight weeks how are they going to go against that?
"It's handing it over to you (the public) to actually find out whether people want this development or not."
After the meeting, Save Our Bus Station campaigner Timothy Oxton vowed to continue the fight.
