Malcolm Pitcher, of Clacton, will be swapping his cab for a plane and a parachute for a charity skydive.
The 55-year-old, who works for Andy and Oliver's Taxis, said: "It's on my list of 50 things to do before I die.
He added: "I don't know if I'm looking forward to it because I'm absolutely terrified of heights. But I'll just have to deal with it when I'm up there."
He said it would be too late then to back out after so many people had sponsored him to do the jump to raise money for St Helena Hospice.
