People are being warned to be careful as they try to keep warm because of the risk of fires.
Station officer Martin Avent, of the county's fire brigade, issued advice on staying warm safely as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.
The warning follows an incident in Bradfield where an elderly woman was badly burnt after her clothes caught fire. It is believed she had been using her stove to keep warm.
Mr Avent said: "What we want to do is highlight the problems, certainly in this weather, of trying to keep warm with naked flames."
