A man who suffered anaphylactic shock after being stung by a wasp while on holiday in Spain died from natural causes, a coroner has recorded.
Paul Harris, 60, of Chelmer Terrace, Maldon, was on a break with his wife in El Chorro, Malaga, when he died on September 29.
As he got out of the pool at the villa he was staying at, he was stung by a wasp. An ambulance was called but by the time resuscitation was att- empted he was already dead.
A post-mortem examination in Spain revealed Mr Harris, who knew he was allergic to wasp stings, had died from anaphylactic shock.
Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of natural causes and offered her sympathy to Mr Harris' family who did not attend the inquest held at Chelmsford County Hall.
