Police today appealed for witnesses to a three-vehicle smash on the old A120 Dunmow Road in Rayne.
The crash happened at the T-junction with the B1417, at 5.20pm, on Tuesday.
A white Ford Transit van travelling towards Braintree, a silver Renault 5 car travelling to Dunmow and a red Fiat Punto car on the B1417 heading towards the T-junction were involved in a collision.
The 19-year-old Renault driver, of Dunmow, suffered arm and leg fractures, his 18-year-old brother, of Chelmsford, had a dislocated and fractured shoulder, and their 41-year-old mother, of Dunmow, had chest and shoulder bruising. All were admitted to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
The three men in the Ford Transit all come from Braintree. The 30-year-old driver received bruising and an 18-year-old passenger had cuts to his face. Another 17-year-old passenger had cuts and bruising.
The 46-year-old male driver of the Fiat, of Gosfield, was not injured.
