A parent and toddler group could be forced to close due to a lack of numbers.

The Salvation Army, based in George Street, Harwich, runs a play group each afternoon for children too young to go to school.

But Frances Double, project officer for SureStart and responsible for all the parent and toddler groups in the district, is worried for its future.

She said: "It is struggling badly to keep numbers up. If numbers do not increase soon they may be forced to close down and it would be such a waste of a perfectly good group."
