Wayne Brown believes Colchester United's performance against Wrexham has laid the poor showing against Bristol City to rest.

The U's bounced back from Saturday's woeful 2-0 defeat at home to the Robins in Coca-Cola League One to narrowly miss out on in maximum points in last night's 2-2 draw at Wrexham.

Skipper Brown headed what the handful of U's fans present hoped was the winner in the 71st minute after Neil Danns cancelled out Mark Jones' gifted opener from a Dean Gerken mistake.

But Wrexham striker Hector Sam popped up to level the match on the 80th minute.

The U's spurned numerous chances to win the game and, despite being disappointed with the end result, Brown believes the U's are back on their feet.

He said: "We wanted a positive response and I think we gave one. From one to 11 we were poor on Saturday and the lads had to respond in the best way possible."
