Kelly Turkeys in Danbury has boosted its retail sales by an extra £100,000 on the previous year.
Managing director Paul Kelly, who breeds a bronze variety of turkeys which require less cooking time and have been praised by TV celebrity chefs, said more people were opting for quality.
The company's home delivery sales at Christmas were up 50 per cent and 30 per cent more birds were sold at the gate to Mr Kelly's farm in Bicknacre Road.
"For a small company family business like ours it's good for us," Mr Kelly said.
"What we are finding is that it's difficult for people to make the jump to buy our turkeys, but once they do, they don't look back."
