A drive has been launched to more encourage people to come to Maldon.
Maldon town centre management has stepped up its campaign to spread the word about the town's shopping and eating attractions.
More than 7,000 copies of its brochure, 2005 Guide to Shopping and Eating, have been distributed to information centres, restaurants, hotels, and visitor attractions in Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.
This adds to 12,500 copies of the booklet which have already been distributed throughout the town.
Four hundred coach companies have also been targeted as part of increased marketing to raise awareness about what Maldon can offer people and families looking for a short-trip destination or a place to spend a day out.
Town centre manager Murray Foster said the brochure was already having an effect as a marketing tool.
A new-look website, boasted to be user friendly and highly informative, is in development stages and is due to be launched in the spring.
