Essex's contingent are now in their second week at the World Cricket Academy in Mumbai.

Coaches Graham Gooch and John Childs are joined in India by Ravinder Bopara, Alastair Cook, James Middlebrook, Mark Pettini, Tony Palladino and Tim Phillips.

Cook was due to leave today in order to join up with the England A squad on their tour of the UAE and Sri Lanka, while the remainder return home next week.

As well as intense training sessions at the specialist spin camp, there are a number of practice matches being held. The first two matches take place next week.

Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar made a surprise appearance at the MIG ground his home pitch when the squad played at the venue.

Essex youngster Bopara took the opportunity to catch up with his cricket hero.

Meanwhile, Essex bowler Ashley Cowan has been the star performer during the first leg of the MCC tour of Namibia and Uganda.

Essex team-mate Graham Napier is also part of the touring party captained by Kent spinner Min Patel.
