Police today launched a fresh appeal to find a dangerous gunman on the loose in Essex.

A Braintree man was shot at his place of work a year ago, and his attacker has never been caught.

Police today pleaded with the public to come forward with any information about the incident which may lead to the arrest of the gunman.

They decided to relaunch the appeal ahead of the first anniversary of the shooting.

The 46-year-old victim, who has not been named, was accosted by the gunman as he opened his mobile burger van for morning trade. He was shot in the leg outside his burger van, in Elliot Drive, on the Springwood Industrial Estate, Braintree.

A man seen running from the area was described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, slim and wearing a grey, hooded top.

Det Con Dominic Davis, of Braintree CID, today said: "This is a dangerous man who used a shotgun to inflict injury and induce fear in his victim. He needs to be found."
