The charity's collections will be held across north Essex between Friday and March 19, with street collections in Colchester on March 4 and 5.
Organisers hope to top last year's total, more than £30,000, for the charity's nursing service.
U's media manager Matt Hudson said: "We were thrilled to be asked to launch this year's appeal. The work of the Marie Curie nurses in north Essex is fantastic, and we are happy to support Marie Curie Cancer Care to continue this vital service."
Would-be collectors with a couple of hours to spare can volunteer on 01223 416405.
