Joe Royle admitted he was delighted to glean a point from his side's draw at Deepdale.

The Blues were second best for long spells of the game and manager Royle said: "It was a great result because we didn't play well.

"Preston will have felt aggrieved and in many ways I felt a bit like Dick Turpin. The irony is that we even had a chance to win the game right at the end that would have been robbery.

"We haven't played particularly well in our last three games but we've still ended up with seven points, so I'm delighted."

Royle's side were losing after a miserable first-half performance - prompting him to make a double substitution at the break.

And he said: "I just felt we needed to start causing them a few problems up front. James Scowcroft had an excellent debut for us but, that apart, we never looked like being a real attacking force."
