The sense of relief was unmistakable as, not for the first time in recent weeks, Ipswich Town were nowhere near their best yet still forged a useful result.

They did it at Sheffield United a fortnight ago, winning 2-0. And they repeated the trick last weekend, pipping Leicester City 2-1.

This time they had to be content with a share of the spoils but anything more would have been a travesty of justice.

In terms of performance, Town were hugely disappointing.

They never got going in the first hour and rarely in recent memory have they possessed so little attacking threat.

Things improved marginally after the break and, after getting an equaliser, they even had a late chance to snatch victory. That really would have been robbery.

As it was, the players always their own worst critics were more than content with a point as they made the short flight home from Blackpool to Stansted.

David Nugent slotted beyond Ipswich keeper Kelvin Davis but Tommy Miller snatched an equaliser.
