St Osyth Pre-School collected accreditation from the Pre-School Learning Alliance and the certificate was handed over by North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin.
Mr Jenkin spent more than an hour at the playgroup, joining in their activities and witnessing for himself the care and education provided for youngsters.
"We all thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the MP certainly got involved," said administrator Julia Rushford.
