A bathroom fitter had a lucky escape when his pick-up truck flipped over and skidded down a Leigh street.

The left-hand drive Ford Ranger flipped onto the driver's side and only came to a halt when it hit a kerb, after it had collided with a Vauxhall Corsa at the junction of Elmsleigh Drive and Manchester Drive.

Firefighters cut off the roof and the driver - who was complaining of neck pain - was put in a neck brace and on a spinal board as a precaution.

Sub officer Mark Paramor, from Leigh Fire Station, said the truck had to be stabilised before the roof could be removed, as it was rolling backwards and forwards.

The 37-year-old driver, from Great Wakering, escaped with cuts and bruises.

The Vauxhall's female driver was uninjured.
