A clubber has been fined £500 after a fracas with door staff outside a Colchester nightspot.
Anthony Maguire was wrestled to the ground after he lashed out at door staff outside Chicago's.
"He was verbally abusive. Police advised him to leave several times but he became violent and attempted to kick the door staff," said Paul Evans, prosecuting.
James Baird-Murray, mitigating, said Maguire, of Queen Anne's Road, Colchester, had no idea why he had been thrown out of the club.
He claimed door staff had taunted Maguire and wouldn't let him get his coat.
Maguire, a student at Anglia Polytechnic University, admitted a charge of threatening behaviour on February 6. The 26-year-old was fined £500 with £43 costs and banned from going to Chicago's for two years.
