Colchester-based East Anglian builders' merchant Kent Blaxill has made a senior appointment with the recruitment of one of the region's top brick salesmen, Rick Hale, as brick and block development senior executive.

Mr Hale, 58, joins the company from a rival firm, where he built up major business and became one of the best known people in the region's brick trade.

Kent Blaxill director David Matthewson said: "We are delighted we are being joined by someone of Rick's calibre and reputation in the industry. We believe he will be a major factor in developing significant new Kent Blaxill business in the housebuilding sector."

Mr Hale, of Victoria Road, Clacton, has worked as a sales manager in Ipswich and Colchester since 1981. The specialist knowledge he built up in bricks led to him being involved in the development of new lines of bricks, particularly Terca's Old Essex.

Rick, who is married to Vi and has a daughter, Louise, is a member and past president of Clacton Jubilee Rotary Club and a committee member and event organiser for Clacton Carnival Association.
