A mother has paid tribute to her 24-year-old son who has died from cancer.
Glenn Foster, a deputy manager at the Daisy Chain Day Nursery, in Maldon, died at St Bartholemew's Hospital in London.
Christine Foster, of Foster Road, Great Totham, said she was told, together with her husband, Ron, that her son's condition was terminal hours before he died on February 7.
Mr Foster was diagnosed with lymphoma last year and struggled with a series of illnesses before he died. However, this did not stop him pursuing a career working with children.
After studying a BTEC in childhood studies at Chelmsford College, Mr Foster began work at the nursery in August 2000.
Mrs Foster, 58, said: "It was something with him and children. They just seemed to gel with him. He was just like the Pied Piper with them and he treated everybody the same."
Mr Foster's funeral will be held at Maldon Methodist Church on Tuesday before a commital takes place at Chelmsford Crematorium. The family are planning a memorial service at a later date.
