A cancelled bus route serving east Colchester is to be revived by a rival operator.
Route 4, linking the Hythe to Colchester town centre via Longridge, will be rolled out from March 14 by Hedingham Omnibuses. The service was axed by Network Colchester in November as it was not making a profit.
Robert McGregor, Hedingham managing director, said: "It's the same route, except it will terminate at Tesco, rather than carrying on to the university. There are already enough services going there.
"We are putting a brand new low-floor bus on the route, running at a regular frequency from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday."
Town MP Bob Russell, who has pressured for cancelled bus services to be restored, was pleased at the announcement.
Hedingham has already provided a replacement 4, serving Stanway, Lexden and Prettygate, which was axed by Network Colchester at the same time as 3.
