A headteacher has been told to stay away from his school while a number of allegations against him are investigated.
Russell Moon was due to take a full year away from Philip Morant School and College while he spent a year on secondment with the Specialist Schools Trust's (SST) iNet Worldwide project.
However, this came to an end earlier than expected when the SST decided it should recruit a full-time head of iNet, which works to link up schools across the world. Sue Cowans was appointed headteacher for the school's current academic year.
It is understood Mr Moon contacted the school to ask if he could return to his post early, but this was not allowed by the governing body.
A spokesman for Essex County Council said: "The chair of governors has taken the decision that Mr Moon should not return to the school while an investigation is made into a number of allegations, the accuracy of which are yet to be determined."
Neither the school nor Mr Moon could be contacted today.
