A war hero is to be remembered at a ceremony taking place at Maldon cemetery to mark a new stone being placed in his memory.
David Embleton received the Victoria Cross, the greatest UK honour for bravery, and his headstone lies in Maldon cemetery in London Road.
But the stone, which is difficult to find in a wooded area, bears the name Frederick Corbett, the name he served under in the army.
Now the Essex Society for Family History has organised for a another stone to be placed in the cemetery with the name David Embleton.
A ceremony will take place on March 15 to mark the unveiling of the stone with local dignitaries attending.
He was given the award for trying to save the life of his officer under enemy fire during the Arabi Pasha rebellion in Egypt in 1882.
