A new store opening in Colchester means a cash boost for one of the town's charities.

Snip - ribbon cutter Rachel Fahie, chief officer of Age Concern Colchester, opens the new Tesco Express, with store manager Martin Brown and shoppers holding a cheque

At the opening of the new Tesco Express in Bromley Road, a cheque for £500 was handed over to Age Concern Colchester.

The presentation was part of the opening ceremony during which chief officer from the Colchester branch Rachel Fahie cut the ribbon to declare the store open.

Age Concern is Tesco's chosen charity this year and the Express store accordingly decided to make a donation to its local branch.
