Martin Galpin is hoping his recent testing sessions bode well for the forthcoming UK Formula Vee Championships.
Martin Galpin will be competing in the UK Formula Vee Championships this year.
The 17-year-old, from Wivenhoe, has just finished putting his Irish-built Sheane racing car through its paces at Snetterton in Norfolk and both car and driver are looking in top form.
It will be the first year that Galpin, a computer science student, has competed in Formula Vee, after making the step up to cars from karting, and he is already showing good potential.
His session times at Snetterton were at speeds that would have put him in the top half of the grid based on last year's times.
He averaged just under 84mph around the damp two-mile circuit and was delighted with his early form.
"Formula Vee is one of the most competitive championships in the country with over 40 cars competing at each race," he said.
"I was very pleased with the result of the test as it's the first time I've driven on a full circuit as I only qualified for my competition licence last week."
