A major £10 million development was today unveiled to create a new retirement village providing more than 100 new jobs.

The scheme will include 98 homes and a 48-suite nursing home along with leisure facilities for the whole community.
The project has been drawn up by Roverstar Developments for Silverwoods at Thorrington, which it owns.
The site was formerly the Silver Springs Motel before it was taken over to provide accommodation for asylum seekers in 2001 and then later for homeless people.
It consists of more than 30 chalets which have been home to about 60 people at any one time.
Michael Swinbourne, a spokesman for Roverstar, said the type of development being proposed was very successful in Australia.
The plans have been submitted to Tendring Council and will be discussed at a future meeting of the planning committee.
