Contentious plans to build a new school access road are set to be given the go-ahead by councillors.
Plans for the road, which would run from Norman Way and Philip Morant School, cutting through a popular playing field, have had local residents up in arms.
But a report, due to be consulted by Colchester Council planning committee members at a meeting tomorrow, recommends the proposals be approved.
Nine-year-old Oliver Vargas was so upset at the plans he recruited 104 classmates, who often play on the site, to sign a petition against the scheme.
The Irvine Road Residents' Association has collected another 250 signatures. Both petitions have been handed into John Jowers, leader of Colchester Council.
