A date has been set for a meeting to gauge public opinion about a proposed port development.
A parish meeting will be held at Long Meadows community centre, Dovercourt, on March 2 at 7pm to decide whether a poll should be taken on Bathside Bay.
If a poll is agreed, people will be asked: "Do you oppose the development of a deep sea container port at Bathside Bay?"
The request for a poll was made by 11 electors of Harwich and Dovercourt. Only people who are registered electors in the parish will be allowed to vote.
An inquiry has been held into plans for a £300 million new terminal at Bathside Bay. The results are due to be announced in April.
