GLOUCESTER Park regular Geoff Byatt set a new match record at the Basildon venue with a tremendous ton up carp haul - winning an event which saw the top three anglers weighing in more than 285lbs of fish between them.
He fished the cockle bank where he used a quivertip and sweetcorn bait to land 21 carp for a fabulous 151lb 8oz match winning bag.
Byatt also netted a 4lb zander, which did not count, and lost four good carp. Second place went to John Masheter, who reeled in 10 carp for a total of 73lb 4oz 8dr.
Masheter who took carp to 14lb 14oz, also fished the cockle bank where he used a waggler and pellet bait.
Wayne Hughes claimed third place with a 60lb 15oz cockle bank haul.
