New £2.3 million sports facilities at a school have been officially opened by a Government minister.

Richard Caborn, who is in charge of sport and tourism, was given a tour of Thurstable School, in Maypole Road, Tiptree, accompanied by a host of local dignitaries.
Pupils and members of the community can now enjoy facilities such as a modern fitness centre gym, dance studio and conference suite plus a full-size artificial turf pitch.
Headteacher Nick Hammond said the new facilities would encourage both children and adults to lead healthier lives.
