THERE was mixed fortune for two of the borough's promotion-chasing teams on Tuesday night.
Thurrock got back to winning ways in the Conference South with a fine 3-1 away win against Hayes, with goals coming from Glenn Poole (2) and Tresor Kandol.
The win cements their fourth position, three points behind Cambridge City who currently second spot.
Grays remain 15 points clear at the top.
East Thurrock had high hopes of going top in the Southern League Division One East but were held to just one point in a 1-1 draw at Wingate and Finchley.
The home side took the lead on 14 minutes, but Rocks drew level on 65 minutes through Danny Harris.
