Frustrated councillors are to set a honey trap to test if street cleaners are doing their jobs.
Frinton and Walton town councillors are concerned street cleaners are giving them the brush-off. And they urged residents to check they were carrying out their rounds properly.
It followed the release of schedules for cleaning for roads and paths by the contractors.
Frinton councillor Roy Caddick said: "I do not think many of these schedules are carried out in this sheet."
Councillors were advised to place rubbish in the gutter and test whether the cleaners had come round. And if it is not swept up, they plan to contact Tendring Council's contract monitoring officer.
