Police are appealing to motorists to think twice before putting lives at risk at a railway crossing.

Ray Stannard, crime reduction officer at Maldon police, said drivers were continuing to risk their lives by not keeping to safety guidelines at the railway crossing barrier near the South Woodham Ferrers station on Hullbridge Road.

The barriers only reach halfway across the road but drivers have been going around them, instead of waiting for a train to pass or trying to seek an alternative route.
