A man escaped with cash from a petrol station on the A12 after telling the cashier he had a gun.
The man, who was wearing a balaclava, walked into the Shell Allstop garage, on the northbound carriageway near Langham. He told the female cashier that he had a gun in a bag, and demanded money and cigarettes.
The cashier was able to shut herself in the back office and called police. The man made off with an unknown quantity of cash.
The robber is described as in his 20s, and was wearing a navy blue coat. A red car, described as a small hatchback, was seen nearby at the time and police are keen to keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle.
A spokesman for Shell declined to comment about the incident at 10.20pm on Sunday.
