Judging for the royal court took place at the Royal British Legion Hall in Vicarage Lane.
And it was a family affair as Carlie Woodhead claimed the crown and title of Walton carnival queen from her sister, Jenny, who was the reigning queen.
The 16-year-old, of Walton, will be joined by princesses Rebecca Dimmick, nine, of Frinton, and Chernice Parsley, also nine, of Walton.
Annette Twinn, secretary to the carnival queen, said the carnival committee was still looking for a business to sponsor the dresses the girls will be wearing.
Anyone who can help should call Mrs Twinn on 01255 675328.
