A town council is to ask an adjudication panel to reconsider its decision to suspend a district councillor for five months.
Maldon Town Council wants the review because the suspension did not include William Prior's position as a town councillor.
The town council agreed at a meeting last night to write to the Standards Board for England requesting that it reconsiders the terms of Mr Priors suspension, after he was found to have breached Maldon District Councils code of conduct.
This is despite Mr Prior offering to withdraw voluntarily from the town council for a five-month period.
