And antiques expert Henry Sandon had a surprise of his own when he was reunited with a friend he had not seen for more than 40 years.
Mr Sandon was in Clacton last night to give a talk to Clacton's Arts and Literary Society about his passion for pots and his appearances on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow.
But he also dug up a friendship dating back 45 years in the form of Peter Kenvyn Jones.
Mr Kenvyn Jones, who is musical director of the Clacton Choral Society, had been a singer in the Worcester Cathedral Choir with Mr Sandon.
