Asbestos was dumped in a road near Witham - prompting Essex County Council to seal off the area.
Hazard - the dumped asbestos
Three tonnes of asbestos tiles were dumped in Little Braxted Lane, near the A12, and police were called to the scene.
Police passed the matter on to the county council, who sent cleaning contractors Onyx to clear the tiles on Sunday night at 8pm.
Business Manager Melanie May confirmed seven 205-litre drums of large grey tiles were cleared away immediately and the remaining asbestos rubble cleared this morning
Ms May said Onyx would dispose of the tiles, but the council will be responsible for finding out who dumped it.
