A nine-year-old girl was airlifted off Mersea Island after she hurt her back at school.
The air ambulance was called into action because the Strood was about to flood. It landed on the playing fields at Mersea Island School, Barfield Road.
The girl had injured her neck after falling and landing awkwardly at lunchtime Friday.
Aircrew paramedic Neil Peachey said: "She did not appear seriously hurt but we wanted to get her into hospital to have her neck and back checked out."
