A former nurse has been told to attend a sex offenders course after he admitted indecent assaults on two girls.

William Watts fondled the girls at his home and a court also heard he humiliated one of them after he caught her with a packet of cigarettes.

Watts, 49, of Stour Road, Harwich, admitted five charges of indecent assault and one of child cruelty on a girl aged under 14 and one indecent assault on another girl aged under 14.

He was given a community rehabilitation order for three years with a condition he attends a sex offenders course run by the probation service.

Judge Chris Ball QC also banned him from working with children for five years and put him of the sex offenders' register for five years.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Friday, a probation report on Watts, which said he classed himself as a victim who thought he had done no wrong.

Judge Ball told him the purpose of the rehabilitation order was aimed at "completely re-educating" him on his behaviour towards young girls.

Allan Compton, mitigating, said references showed Watts was well thought of and respected.
