A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in an alleyway.
Police were called to Orchard Road, in South Ockendon, shortly after 1am on Saturday morning.
The victim, Dennis Williamson, 55, from Cheshire, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination revealed he died of multiple stab wounds.
