Wing-back Chris Duffy made himself a strong contender for Canvey's goal of the season prize with a stunning 30-yard plus strike but insisted: "I've scored better than that".
The 41st-minute against-the-wind effort brought Gulls back into Saturday's 2-2 relegation battle with Northwich Victoria after they had conceded two goals in the first 12 minutes.
Duffy, who joined the Islanders from Northwich five years ago, scored in the game at the Cheshire club's ground back in November, but this one was more important as it helped earn Canvey a vital point.
He said: "Obviously I was really pleased with the goal, but I hit an even better one than that when I was playing for Northwich."
Striker Lee Boylan got Gulls' equaliser three minutes into injury time.
