Pupils at Cherry Tree School in Colchester found that out when they had a chance to play African drums as part of a multicultural week.
Teddy Akrofi from Ghana visited the school and showed the pupils how to tap out beautiful rhythms. He also kept the youngsters enthralled with traditional African stories.
For the Chinese New Year, the pupils ate a Chinese meal and during the week they also had a chance to make and sample Indian and Greek dishes.
Vibha from India visited the school in Holt Drive and taught the children Indian street games, and other activities in included a samba workshop and a visit from Thomas Lord Audley School's steel band.
