An evergreen cat may have become the oldest moggy in the world.
Showing spirit - Whiskey is due to turn 34 next month, according to owner Jean Stone. (34407-c)
Whiskey shot to national fame last year when he celebrated his 33rd birthday. His amazing achievement was bettered only by a 34-year-old cat, believed to be from South Africa.
But according to Whiskey's owner, Jean Stone, that situation has now changed.
She said: "I'm told the other one has died and so as far as I'm concerned, Whiskey is the oldest cat in the world. He's wearing well and is still exactly the same as ever."
Mrs Stone, of Brooklands Gardens, Jaywick, cannot get official confirmation from the Guinness Book of Records because she has no documents to prove Whiskey's age.
Nevertheless, Mrs Stone is adamant that Whiskey will turn 34 next month.
