A company boss has pulled his firm out of Colchester, because he is fed up with the traffic-choked routes into town.

Terry Youngs ran T R Youngs Insurance Brokers from offices on East Hill for a decade, and was based in Head Street for seven years prior to that.

But now, branding Colchester's traffic situation a "nightmare", he has moved his business and eight staff to his home village, Elmstead Market.

It means that Mr Youngs can now walk to his Clacton Road office, and his staff find it easier to get to work.

He said: "We needed the space, but we also got fed up with the traffic getting into Colchester. We used to take 40 minutes or more to get in.

"It is far more convenient now. We can be out here, and we can do what the Government wants us to do: walk to work," he added.

Mr Youngs said the vehicle build-ups on the A133 at Clingoe Hill had worsened in recent years.

The firm's expansion and move to larger premises has enabled it to take on two extra members of staff, he added.
