A teenager has spoken of his shock when he was set upon by three youngsters then told they had got the wrong boy.
The 15-year-old, of Clacton, who does not want to be named for fear of reprisal, said he had just come out of McDonald's in Pier Avenue, Clacton, and he was walking down towards the seafront when he was attacked from behind.
He said: "I got jumped on by three of them, aged about 16 or 17 years old. When they ran off they said I was the wrong person."
He said the attack came completely out of the blue.
He said: "I got a black eye and quite a few head injuries. I think I might have a broken nose."
The attack ended up in the alleyway by the amusements in Pier Avenue, Clacton.
The attackers struck at 8pm on Friday. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Paul Wood at Clacton police on 01255 221312.
