A company has revealed it is to close its manufacturing site in Colchester in a move which could result in the loss of up to 75 jobs.
Mentor Medical, based in Whitehall Road, on the Whitehall industrial estate, in The Hythe, made the announcement yesterday.
The firm, which is a subsidiary of the Mentor Corporation, in America, said it will shut down the manufacturing plant in Colchester at the end of March.
The move comes as the Mentor Corporation rationalises its manufacturing and outsourcing products both internally from other Mentor sites and externally through sub-contractors.
A spokesman for the company declined to give any further details except that the options faced by the 75 employees at the site included relocating with the firm or being made redundant.
