A Maldon district councillor suspended from his duties for breaching the council's code of conduct could also be suspended from his position on Maldon Town Council.
Councillor William Prior was suspended for five months following a decision by the adjudication panel of the Standards Board for England after being accused of bringing the council into disrepute after "rugby tackling" a fellow district councillor.
A resolution has been put forward for Monday's town council meeting by councillor Dennis Keighley for Mr Prior to be suspended from Maldon Town Council as well.
Mr Keighley said the resolution had come about because he believed the code of conduct for councillors was seamless.
Mr Prior is not sure if he will attend the meeting on Monday night due to other commitments.
However, he does believe he should remain as a town councillor despite his suspension from the district council.
