Jolly walkers - pupils at Wentworth School, Maldon, on their walking 'bus'. Picture: ROB SAMBROOK 40965-1
That's the message from pupils of Wentworth Primary School in Maldon and their parents who have launched a walking bus to get the youngsters to class without the hassle of parking.
The bus revs up at Rydal Drive on the east side of Maldon at 8.15am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
It picks up its fluorescent-jacketed "passengers" in Poulton Close, Johnston Way, Centaur Way, Falcon Fields and Essex Road, arriving at the school gates in Viking Road at 8.40am.
Up to 24 passengers per journey accompanied by parent volunteers have used the bus since its first run.
Now the school is seeking to launch a second walking bus to accompany pupils from the west of town.
